A few years ago I made a life changing decision – I gave up my long career as a Physical Education teacher to start a Yoga business and, I can honestly say, I haven’t looked back!
When teaching as a P.E Specialist in Moray Primary schools I would sneak a block yoga into the school year and the pupils loved it – “YAY” they would say when they came into the room and saw the colourful array of mats arranged in a welcoming circle. The difference in behaviour and focus, in pupils convinced me to do something about it – so I took this word ‘YAY’ and put it together with the word Yoga and YAYoga was born!
My background in P.E teaching in schools and nurseries, creative dance teaching at local and national level (as a trainer of teachers), as a party organiser, together with voluntary work with children in Tanzania and Malawi has given me valuable, unforgettable experiences but it was time for change and to ‘follow my dream’. Over the past few years I have added to my list of qualifications and experience and can now offer Yoga for pregnancy and beyond.
My business has allowed me to teach ‘my way’ – nurturing each individual, whether it be mummy, baby, tot or tween and helping them to enjoy Yoga as much as I do by gently guiding them in the right direction without pressure and with lots of laughter, fun and activities appropriate to age and level.
